Looking back at our favourite projects from 2022
From working on swimming aids to headphones to helping protect bees, we have certainly had one action packed year! It’s always good to reflect on the last twelve months and below are a selection of our favourites that we CAN show you! We want to showcase examples of the value added to each client project by working with LUMA-iD.
Keep your eye out for other releases that we will be able to share later in the year.

LUMA was involved with the hardware development of the Kouo headphones which is packed with some really exciting top secret sensor technology
Value added from LUMA-iD
– Refining a prototype to an MVP to showcase to stakeholders
– Expert knowledge in MJF 3D Printing and in-house silicone moulding for the electrode contacts.
– Collaboration with electronics contractor to “package” a complex set of internal technology
Project Hurdles
The project started during the first lock down back in March 2020 so the challenges were mostly centered around developing a product without physically meeting the client or the other subcontractors
Project deliveries
A fully working MVP prototype used for internal testing and market trials

We were honoured to be given the task of producing a scale mock up of the Nasa / ESA Orion Shuttle model for a show, which is now proudly hanging at the entrance of Future Labs
Value added from LUMA-iD
Expert knowledge in large scale 3dprinting, laser cutting and assembly
Project Hurdles
Lack of time. This one was a bit of a record for us, we signed off the project on the first week of June and the completed model was delivered and installed on the third week of June, that was sub 3 weeks to create a full 3D CAD model and order all the components and still have time for assembly
Project deliveries
A full accurate and free-hanging model of the Orion Shuttle for Goodwood 2021

SleepaSloth is a Smart Baby Sound Machine that is designed to work how you need it to, because every baby is unique and every family is different.
Value added from LUMA-iD
Expert product development from a project brief to a fully working prototype
Project Hurdles
Packaging the internal development PCB board into a real world sized device was the biggest challenge
Project deliveries
A fully reprogrammable prototype that allowed the clients to further develop the project and refine the app and project to the next stage

LUMA worked with Beemmunity, to create this beautiful WildHives prototype to rewild pollinator ecosystems.
Value added from LUMA-iD
Refining a range of ideas and directions from the client into a single well designed and refined prototype for market analysis and testing
Project Hurdles
Keeping the design simple. For this project less is more and part of the process was to reduce complexity and refine the product down to its key functions while producing a clean and distinctive look.
Project deliveries
We produced several prototypes and worked with the client to test and refine the ideas down to the MVP seen in the pictures to the left

We are really excited to be working on the prototyping and product development work for the SWYMLINE start-up.
Value added from LUMA-iD
– Scaling up an ambitious start-up idea into a fully working prototype
– Expert knowledge in large scale 3dprinting and metal fabrication
Project Hurdles
Working within a limited budget and timeframe to maximise the clients output to stakeholders
Project deliveries
A set of full product concepts and a full scale, fully working MVP prototype for sales and marketing
