The Power of Collaborative Design: A Journey at Plus X Innovation, Slough
The LUMA team recently had the opportunity to participate in the Boost Accelerator Prototyping Programme, held at the Central Research Laboratory (CRL), located within Plus X Innovation in Slough. This programme has rapidly gained a reputation as a hub for forward-thinking innovators, offering a nurturing environment where great ideas take shape and new products are brought to life.
A Unique Setting for Innovation
Plus X Innovation is widely known for its state-of-the-art facilities and its commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration. Split over two floors, Plus X offers a fantastic space equipped with a high-tech prototyping lab and workshop, providing startups and innovators access to the tools needed to bring their designs to fruition. For the LUMA team, being immersed in such a dynamic and well-resourced environment was a perfect match for their mission of refining the design of the Flexybin product design collaborating with Studio Matter and getting a fresh new take on the project.
The Boost Accelerator Programme is designed to help small and medium enterprises (SMEs) accelerate their product development by providing resources, mentoring, and networking opportunities.
Throughout the programme, the LUMA team had access to the CRL’s expert technical assistance and gained insights from industry veteran Jim Reeves who guided them in overcoming direction challenges and honing their design. This collaborative environment fostered not only technical advancements but also creative solutions to real-world problems, perfectly aligning with LUMA’s ethos of practical, user-centred design.
